Grandpa Folz's 80th Birthday Party

Tonight we went over to my Aunt Christie's house for my Grandpa Folz's surprise party. He will be 80 years old tomorrow. Everyone had a great time and my grandpa was really surprised. My dad grilled new york strip steaks and chicken breasts for everybody. All the food was so good. My Mom put together a slide show of my Grandpa's life. It was so neat to see him as a child and growing up. They had a DJ there also which was really nice. They played lots of older music which I loved. They couldn't have had a better evening as far as weather goes either. It has been so hot lately and humid but tonight was perfect. I'm glad everything turned out so well. I know my Mom and her sisters spent a lot of time planning everything.

My Aunt has a small golf course in her back yard (it's just for practicing different shots) and Christian loved playing in the different sand pits. He was so dirty when we brought him home.

One of my Grandpa's really good friends wrote down funny memories of grandpa when he was younger. Each of my Grandpa's kids read one for everybody. They were really funny to listen too.

Boating On The River

Yesterday Jason and I went out on the river up by Anderson Island. We dropped Christian off at Kenny and LeeAnn's house on the way. As much as I missed having Christian with us it was also nice to be able to relax and hang out with everyone. It was so hot yesterday I don't think Christian would've been able to enjoy it as much. Susan and Duane brought out a ton of chicken wings that were delicious! I'm so glad that the river is clearing up so we can enjoy more days like this out on the river.

What To Do For Our Anniversary

Our four year anniversary is coming up in September and Jason and I are going to go away for a weekend by ourselves. We are trying to think of something different to do without having to go to far away. I don't want to leave Christian for more than one night. I know I will miss him too much, especially since this will be the first time that Jason and I are leaving him to go out of town. I've never left him for more than 24 hours before. If anyone has any creative suggestions I would love to hear them. The past couple of years we have gone to St. Louis for the weekend to celebrate so we are trying to come up with something other than that. If we don't think of anything else that is our back up plan. The Cardinals are home the weekend we are looking at going so we could go to the game and do some shopping like always. I need to do some research on places to go less than 5 five hours away from hear or even look at some inexpensive flights somewhere different.

Father's Day With The Pickerill Side

Tonight we went over to Kenny and LeeAnn's to celebrate Father's Day. It started storming really bad right as we left our house. On the way there we saw the most beautiful rainbow ever. The picture definitely doesn't do it justice. LeeAnn made her famous homemade chicken and dumplings. These are one of my favorite things to eat and they were delicious. I ate two plates of them. It was a nice evening to sit outside since the storm cooled things off a bit. Jason had fun shooting his bow and the kids all had fun playing with bubbles and water guns. Jamie and I brought dessert. Christian and I made dirt pudding and Jamie brought stuff for strawberry shortcakes. Both desserts were a hit. The kids especially loved getting whipped cream squirted in their mouths. They kept coming back for more. Christian had fun tasting every body's desserts especially his Uncle Ben's. He just stuck his hand right in Ben's bowl and dug himself out a strawberry. Everybody got a big kick out of that. Once the kids started getting tired we decided to head back home. Christian made it almost half way home and then he fell sound to sleep in the car. Before we left he threw a fit wanting to take a toy gun home with him. When I looked back at him in the car he was sleeping with his gun across his lap. It was so sweet!
Jamie and I thought it was pretty funny when Kenny went outside with his boots on with his shorts so we had to snap a picture of him.
